Code Compliance Guideline
If there was a problem with the building fire alarm system or the fire suppression system (circle as appropriate) such that the building could not be returned to a normal safe state of readiness.
During periods where this building is occupied, a person must be designated to conduct the fire watch This person will be provided with at least one approved means for emergency notification of LCFR (via 911) and their only duty will be to perform constant monitoring of the protected premises and keep watch for fires. It is recommended that the owner of the building keep a record of this fire watch that the building insurance carrier be contacted for any additional fire watch requirements it may deem necessary.
A fire watch must continue until released by the FMO. Prior to any such release the FMO will require the following:
1. That the fire protection system has been repaired by a qualified service technician.
2. That the FMO has been contacted (703-737-8600) to verify the system has been restored to normal. 3. Submit proof the fire protection system has been repaired by emailing or faxing a copy of a completed work repair order listing the repairs completed. Send emails to FireWatch@loudoun.gov or fax to (703) 737-8595.
4. FMO personnel will notify the Emergency Communications Center that the system has been repaired and building is off fire watch
NOTICE: Compliance with a “fire watch” does not imply compliance with the USBC or other Health Department and Safety Regulations. Any questions or concerns should be directed to the FMO.
